The first phase of the resurfacing works began on the 24th February in Lower Hillgate which will involve carefully lifting the existing failed setts and laying a temporary coloured surface from the bollards at Robinsons Brewery to Royal Oak Yard. This will take around two months to complete and will allow for redevelopment works to properties in this area to take place.

At a later stage when the developments are complete, high quality, heritage paving setts will replace the coloured surface.

Repairs to the footpath and redecoration of the street furniture along this section will also take place as part of phase one.

Phase two of these works is scheduled for late 2020 and will also involve laying high quality heritage paving setts from Royal Oak Yard to the roundabout at the bottom of Little Underbank.

All business owners are aware of the works taking place and will remain open as usual.

More information about these works can be found on the Council’s website.
