On Saturday 12th February 2022 we held the ‘Tales of the Sinking Ship’ event to celebrate mark 55 years since the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed in the Underbanks!
Together with local record label, Seven Miles Out, we hosted a range of heritage activities. This included guided music tours of the Underbanks area led by John Barratt, live performances by the Tall Faces, an exhibition of memorbilia relating to the Sinking Ship and Jimi Hendrix, and a display of mopeds and motorbikes from Manchester Lions Scooter Club.
The music tours also visited the Jimi Hendrix art mural to talk about the time he played at the Sinking Ship nightclub on Royal Oak Yard.
