The Council are following Government advice in relation to construction activity during the COVID-19 pandemic and is shutting down all its non-essential schemes where it is not possible to work safely within the public health guidelines.
The controlled shutdown of the works in the Underbanks includes the top layer of carriageway surfacing being laid this week. Subsequent footway paving works and the painting of street furniture will follow the period of shutdown, in line with developing Government guidelines.
The works in the Market Place have been made safe and are currently on hold until further notice.
